Di and I used to go to the Saint in summer and snorkel…very easy to do, and going upriver was like climbing underwater. Found stuff too. Scuba seems a little over the top.

Just realized that ANY of our dam spillways could be used- but is there a good one near St. Louis or a population center? I think at one time Lake St. Louis was mentioned.

John Tansil and I worked pretty hard at stopping a lake project upriver between Delassus and Bismarck. The guy promised that they would release on weekends and commercial rafting could become a reality. I view a whitewater park in a similar manner…..money over natural beauty. No Thanx.

I have mtn biked the mountain multiple times on the old Taum Sauk trail. It was a great, but strenuous ride. I have mentioned multiple times through the years what a really great trail this would make. Plus, if they do it right, there is a lot of history up there- from old mining efforts to confederate artillery placements (if we can even relate confederate history in these days and times LOL) I’m glad that someone finally saw this potential and is acting on it.

I have never heard that the park service forbids it. I was once stopped by MDC for the state part of the trail and I told them that by their own rules, double track is open to mtn biking. I asked them to get back with me if I was wrong- they never did. I have mtn biked this many times successfully.

Libertyville and Ironton got almost an inch of rain last night. The gauge should rise!

I am a bit disappointed that the level is still so high, but will shoot for 11 to meet you. Di is doing my shuttle and I may go to 72.

LOL The vagaries of prediction, especially in spring. A week ago 1/2 inch of rain produced 20 inches on the river. This time it barely went up an inch. Way too many variables!

you should load your boat, drive to the Saint, and then put out your solar panels to recharge your car. Maybe it will take weeks or months, but during that time you can camp out in your car by the river. It could be fun!

I have tried and failed to teach my cats the meaning of “NO”. It is easier teaching Latin to Dogs.

It was indeed locked today. You can still boat however- and Millstream remains open.
