      Very, very sad news indeed. Gary took me under his wing when I was newer to boating, and we’ve shared a lot of fun memories. My friend (who was also friends and a colleague of Gary), is the Carbondale building inspector and was on scene a little after accident. I can provide further details if and when the time is right. Thoughts and prayers for his family- RIP Gary.

      Looks like the watershed is getting pounded now, with a lot more coming on radar. Any prediction on the Saint rising for tomorrow or Sunday? Thanks-Matt

      I’ll be staying at a cabin close to the river with a few friends. Definitely want to paddle with you guys. As for Sunday, I’m thinking about a couple laps on the upper and maybe checking out the cascades- given the fact there’s more opportunities to paddle the Ocoee versus upper Nanty runs.

      I’m hoping to make it down tomorrow as well. Finally have recovered enough from my ankle surgery to attempt boating. I would be shocked if it’s not well above 0″. As Tracy said a visual would be nice. I can boat from 10-3

      Check out Meremac Valley Grotto. They have meetings at Alpine shop in STL or the SEMO Grotto out of Perryville (Facebook search them).

      Thank you for the offfer but I already have two drysuits. Needing a one piece wetsuit for caving.
