Great that there’s enthusiasm for new efforts.
Can we please proceed without disparaging anyone’s volunteer efforts, current or past? Can we keep it positive (or say nothing)?

Hope, as the new MWA board considers ways to invest MWA club resources, they’ll be guided by the club’s mission,
https://missouriwhitewater.org/about/ “The Missouri Whitewater Association is a public organization which exists to encourage the growth of paddling as a beneficial recreational sport and a recognized competitive sport, to teach paddling skills, river safety techniques, first aid, and outfitting, to sponsor river trips and other outdoor activities, and to educate club members and the general public about the sport and about river conservation.”

I don’t see how the acquisition of expensive boats sufficiently advances the mission to merit the investment. If folks want to donate more boats, great. OR partner with retailers to allow people to try out boats (e.g. like NOC rents gear).

I and many others are passionate about creating more training opportunities.
Years ago we had tried to advance a mentorship initiative for MWA members to partner with new Team River Runner veteran boaters.
Eager to be a part of considering new training options.

Ed Stevens and I, Sally Haywood, plan to do the upper tomorrow. Meeting at the upper put in with Maureen at 11 am. It would be great if anyone wants to join us. Maybe the whole river, depending on level,

This is Ed’s first year of boating and I’m thrilled for him to have some water to put his hard-won skills  to work

Presuming the water holds, I plan paddle this Sat & Sun. I can’t get there Sat until about 3:30 pm. I’d be grateful if someone would do the Upper with a a more novice boater (Ed) & me. Let me know, 314-374-9206, Sally

Sally Haywood & Ed Stevens just reserved a bunk at the NOC through mwa. We would be hard-pressed to take a third person with us (small cars & boat capacity) we could carpool with another person in their vehicle

I still have not worked out a ride to the Southeast trip. I can come back with Bob Henderson. Can anybody fit me in their car to get out there?

If I don’t work out the ride, then my bunk in the bunkhouse is for sale. Sally, 314-374-9206

Thanks for setting this up!  I’m interested in Sunday night and will bring a family member.  I’ll mail a check right away.  Sally

Super great trip! Huge thanks to Di for wrangling / hurding us cats and being so wonderful with the new folks. You are a treasure to this club & each of us. Thanks to Gary Cooper for his co-leading (by draft), rescues, & zinger humor (even when it’s about me). Coop, grateful for the river cofidence you give me & others. Billbo, thanks for leading us down the Ocoee and sharing your exuberance for that River. Personal big thanks to Bill Parsons for keeping me laughing & being the best river buddy / H / tutor ever. I’m now nursing my Ocoee bruises & getting ready to fake like I’ve got energy for work. Love boaters & this club!

Sally Haywood, Ed Stevens, & one tiny, newly well mannered dog (we’ve recently been through intensive dog training). Arriving late Saturday afternoon
