True, it happens every year on the same weekend, but the venue changes periodically.  We have had it at Dreylands for several years, until last year.  Before that it was Akers Ferry, Twin Rivers, and probably other places as well that I am forgetting.  A decision on the location was not made until last month, because we have no coordinator and I have been very busy at work.  So, it slipped by until it got late.

Picnic is this next weekend, so see you there!

Float is like last year, with the same prices.  River’s Edge on the Black River.  $15 to haul a kayak, $20 for a canoe, and if you rent a canoe, it is $46.  We have to be there by 10:30, departing at 11:00 for the put-in.  We should be finished with plenty of time to get back to Silvermines for the catered dinner meal, which starts at 6:00.  You need to buy tickets by Monday, so that I can report the count to the caterer.  Tickets are only $5 (club is picking up the difference) and you can get vegan if you specify when buying.

Annual business meeting will follow the meal.

We are three weeks away from our annual club picnic and meeting. It will be held at the Silvermines campground and pavilion this year, starting Friday night, September 11 and go to Sunday morning.  We will hold a socially distant event, so bring your masks.

We have reserved the group camp site both nights and the pavilion on Saturday.  You are encouraged to also reserve your own additional campsites at Recreation.gov.

We will have a catered meal Saturday evening, followed by the meeting.  Tickets will have to be purchased from the MWA Store on the MWA website to give us an accurate count for the number of meals to prepare, but the club will supplement a portion of the cost, and we plan to have a vegan option.  We will also provide liquid refreshments.

Maybe the Saint will be up!  But in addition to hiking opportunities, there is also the opportunity to float the Black River near Lesterville.

Additional details will follow as we know more.

Depending on how old you are, it could be “creaking” – that’s how I feel a lot of times!
