I’ve added a warning to my LRC page on MoCreekin’. Based on the first-hand account I heard of their adventure, I really think it would be best if this run was avoided until the wood can be removed (if ever – it is private land). And after that, scout everything on this one!

I’ll take those Home Companions if they are still available. Classics.

I remember that day 25 years ago and wish I could be there today, but I’m one of the fools stuck at work.
Surf a wave for me!

I will be there along with Will (7 yr old) and we’ll be sporting a very fine aluminum beater canoe on the Saturday float. If there is a MWA Sash of Shame, I’ll wear it. 😧
We’ll be tenting it.
See folks Friday evening.

I can’t make it to Arkansas, but have fun you guys!
For those staying local, I’ll still be at D around 11:30.

Excellent! It’ll be great to boat with everyone. I’ll plan on being at D by 11:30. John, we’ll see you around noon-ish.

So, as some of you may know, I grew up in this area and actually know the people involved. I’m sure Ken Wooten is leasing the land as described, but the Wooten’s are related to the Henry’s (Ken’s wife’s maiden name is Henry) so it is a safe bet that Mr. Wooten will eventually be the owner of this land.
Ken may be a bit stubborn on this issue, but his is truly a good guy. And, like Chuck said, this family is well-respected in the area.
I’d encourage the club to develop a good relationship with this family. It may take time, but the end result will be better in the long run. Otherwise, we’ll be having these debates 25 years from now when Ken’s son owns the land. Who, by the way, still lives and farms on these lands.
My 2 cents.

OBTW, I found this green plastic boat looking thing in the back of my garage the other day. Anybody know what it is used for?

I guess it might be one of these: https://cumulis.epa.gov/supercpad/SiteProfiles/index.cfm?fuseaction=second.Cleanup&id=0701102#bkground
#2 has the same name as the company, but that may not matter??
Hopefully, not #6. Though it is a little disturbing to think we routinely boat through a superfund site.

The data for the river gauge on this site comes from http://water.weather.gov/ahps2/hydrograph_to_xml.php?gage=rozm7.

Yes. I need to update Upper Stouts. I’ve ran the dam several times since writing that back in the 90’s! 🙂
Thanks.

Well, I found this back when I was dreaming anything could be run. It’s not much of anything and would probably never get enough water (small watershed) but it’s in RockPile Mountain Wilderness. I think it’s referred to as Cave Branch on the map.

I updated http://mocreekin.com/ this weekend. It still needs help, but should be a little better now.
If anyone has any creekin’ stories or pictures to share, I’d be happy to add them to the site.
