When Di and I left at 6 pm the D bridge level was just touching the top of the zero. However the river itself was closer to 2 inches in reality. With no rain we will be okay- but there’s a lot of rain in the forecast.

Whoever is mtn biking the trail???? Right on!

Thanks for the report Chuck. A couple friends and I are planning for a first time down upper stouts Sat morning if it’s high enough. Do you think it’s clear from logs?

        Dan,
You do know that it is clinic weekend right?
If you start talking like that, John could lose all his instructors and safety boaters.

To confirm Chuck–you are allowed to bike the trail?  Nice!

Maybe legal at the Silver mines area.
The most recent brochure about Millstream states
“Horseback riding and bicycling are allowed only on roads open to vehicles.”
There has been a lot of discussion about this,
and it would depend on the mood of the person that stopped you.
If it went before a judge, the publicly printed brochure could be considered law.
        -just my 2 cents-

oh yeah, conservation is never around when the horses are,
but I’ll bet they would love to hassle lowly boaters just biking a shuttle

I have been stopped mtn biking on numerous occasions and they read me the riot act- I calmly told them that in their own literature/rules they state a “roads open to vehicles” ie the road they drive ATV’s on all the way to the juncture with federal land. Thus- it is LEGAL  I ask them to call me if I am wrong and give them my number. They have never called me back…..

Also note that the MDC is very lazy, and they tend to enforce nutty rules (like calling fisherman’s a USEABLEramp). So the fact that they don’t callme back means only that I “could” be right.

      Sorry Chuck,
I don’t want to argue, I think you could be right.
Since you and I cannot drive our vehicles down the “trail/road”,
I would interpret that it is “NOT” open to vehicles”
Hard to tell, it never states public roads or public vehicles.
A judge that is not connected to Conservation would probably look at the publicly released material first.
Depending on his/her day and the people arguing in front of him, it might go either way.
Also, according to your interpretation, that would mean that horses would be allowed. YUCK YUCK YUCK

also, the ramp at fisherman’s is a “useable” ramp.
it allows mountain bikers to get down to the river.

      sorry, couldn’t resist.
