Thanks to Urban Chestnut for our first official donation, a UC gift basket including a $10 gift certificate & two 4-packs of adult beverages.  Eligibility to adult volunteer/paddlers only.   (value $30)  http://urbanchestnut.com

If you would like to solicit companies you patronize, or even your own company, please print a copy of our Donations Request Letter that should have all the information you need.  A volunteer or racer will thank you.  (well, probably not, but think of the karma)

Thanks to Neil at the Madison Inn for a donation of a free night at the Madison Inn.  This has a value of $76 (for 2 queen beds) or $70 (for 1 king bed).

For those planing to stay at Madison Inn this year (remember the Banquet will be in Fredericktown this year), Neil mentioned that if you make reservations directly through him, you save a few dollars over the internet (Expedia, etc.) price.  FYI, scoring headquarters will be at the Madison Inn this year.

Thanks to Mona at TheSkeeterBeater https://theskeeterbeater.com, maker of magnetic vehicle screens for your vehicle to keep the skeeters out, for her donation of a gift certificate for a free pair of screens ($54.95 value).

And thanks to loyal MWA member Aine for making the initial request!  That’s exactly how this works best.  When you are talking to a gear company or other business that our paddlers & volunteers might be patronize, ask if they will donate & give them our donation request letter.  Many hands make the work lighter!

Hey paddlers – thanks for a bunch of last minute donations to the paddler-volunteer drawing!  I didn’t get pictures of all of them, as a lot of things showed up while things were getting organized.  Also, thanks to Casara, Chris, Dave, Diane, JulieA and the rest of the crew for organizing all the items & getting them distributed.  And to Eileen for taking pictures.

Max Wellhouse added several items to the table.  There was a basket of wine (St. James Winery?) that Jerry Schafroth & his wife donated –  thanks!  Eric Anderson donated two Bushcraft Fire Making Kits with flint & steel.  Vince Swoboda donated two first aid kits [and I got one!], and Mark Wehking donated a great inspirational poster, with MY picture on it (even though he claims otherwise).

By the way, this was fun, but I’m going to stick to Timing & Scoring next year.  The position of Paddler/Volunteer Drawing Coordinator for 2019 is OPEN!

I will package up all the information about this Race Committee job, adding to Ellen & Linda’s info from last year, to hand over to the next person/persons, for next year.
