      Hi all,
      The first planning meeting for the 2023 Missouri Whitewater Championships is 6:30 this Friday 10/14 at The Main and Mill Brewing Co. in Festus MO. We are still looking to fill a couple key positions Safety Director and Volunteer Director/Team.
      Among the things to be discussed will include the following proposed schedule for next years race:
      1. Saturday, March 11: Wires will be strung and a couple gates for some early slalom warm up and potential Slalom clinic.
      2. Thursday, March 16: Gate hanging, and practice
      3. Friday, March 17: Morning and early afternoon, Slalom practice; Downriver Race will start with a Racer’s meeting at Fishermans Put-in at 4:00 pm, and racing begins at 4:30 pm. After the race Dinner and drinks at the pavilion, with live entertainment.
      4. Saturday, March 18: 6:30-8:00AM Open practice AFTER gates are set 8:00-8:30 AM: Paddler’s mandatory race meeting 9:00-12:30PM: Slalom NOVICE, EXPERT, COMPOSITE—K1, C1, C2 12:30-1:00PM: 1st Annual Dodgeball race 1:00-4:30PM: Slalom PLASTIC K1 AGE GROUPS 6:00PM: Race Banquet
      5. Sunday March 19 6:30–7:45AM Open practice AFTER gates are set 8:00–8:15AM: Paddler’s mandatory race meeting 8:30–9:30AM: Boatercross preliminary heats. 9:30–2:30PM: Start with OC1/OC2 races then Slalom racing K1 LONG & SHORT OC1/OC2 Boatercross final Slalom racing K1 LONG & SHORT OC1/OC2 Beachball race 3:00PM Course takedown. 3:45PM Awards, raffle for Volunteers.

      At this point a couple of us are going to arrive early to hang out and secure space in the upstairs outdoor covered veranda and Taproom.

      unfortunately i will miss the meeting as i am heading to the Gauley. My only suggestion is to run the experts first then you can use some of the experts to help with safety for the novices.
