
Pool Classes – Fundamentals of Whitewater Kayaking (6-week sessions)
September 10 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
This is the perfect way to start the pursuit of whitewater kayaking. You will begin building fundamental skills indoors, in a warm pool. Skills include strokes, edging, and the roll, plus blending strokes for river maneuvers. Discussion will cover safety, gear, river running, and more.
When: SUNDAYS, 5–8pm, see below. They are 6-week classes with a 7th week makeup day/open session.
Where: Mehlville High School pool
Cost: $125, includes the use of MWA gear (boat, skirt, paddle), or bring your own.
Minimum Age: 15.
- Younger participants are welcome, with prior instructor approval IF (a) they enroll with an adult (parent/caregiver) who will participate in the class with the child, and (b) they have a boat that fits the young person. Please talk to the instructors (see below).
To enroll: Register through Mehlville School District Community Enrichment. Enrollment is expected to be open by late August. (Space is limited! Don’t delay if you are interested.)

SESSION 2: OCTOBER 29 – DECEMBER 17, 2023 (no class 11/26/23)
SESSION 3: JANUARY 7 – FEBRUARY 25, 2024 (likely no class 1/14/24)
SESSION 4: MARCH 3 – APRIL 14, 2024
Experienced paddlers are encouraged to come assist.
The group usually shares dinner afterward at a nearby restaurant.
