Why does the message board, out of the blue, go white and erase everything I’ve written? I was about 2 paragraphs into this when it happened. Screw it.
There is a meeting scheduled for Sept 15th, 6 pm at the Iron County Courthouse.
When I get over being mad at the message board I will detail the extreme “funny business” going on and $2 million that seems to be lost.

Chuck, I hope you can post something about the ‘funny business’ going on. I heard from a hiking buddy that there was no money to fix the Crane Pond dam. I guess you just have to look around the Mark Twain National Forest to see that it’s a poorly managed forest. Some of everything is in disrepair–i.e. no water in the Upper Silvermines Campground. Other Campgrounds not up to snuff. I’m here working for the Park (Glacier National Park) but I represent the Kootenai and Flathead National Forests on my ‘other MWA Board’ the Montana Wilderness Association. So I get to see and interact with Forest Supervisors who are competent. Sometimes our politics are different but the infrastructure is in good shape–Trailheads, Campgrounds, trails, and so on. It’s a shame nothing is happening to fix the Crane Pond Dam. The MWA needs to get more involved and apply as much political pressure to the local Congressman and both Senators…

Bill- you inspired me to continue- according to the paper—Our County commissioners have done their best to meet with the NFS to no avail, and to top it off they can’t get any info- neither why they opened the dam (presumbaby for repair, or what is wrong, and what their future plans are. The studies done are harder to get than Hillary’s emails!

He asked for an annual budgt for Crane lake and was told there isn’t one. He was also told they have spent no money there since 1996 (which I know 100% is a lie).
The Governor’s office committed $2 million to Crane Pond. Skaggs commented that the Forest service should jump all over this, The feds claim they need $5 million…but refuse to show any engineering studies to support it.
I also know that in a meeting about 2 months ago the feds announced that there would be NO repairs without heavy private donations……
For myself I am disgusted. Just another scam.
If you want to go to this meeting at the Iron Co courthouse you need to let your intentions be known by Sept. 8th….and of course they gave NO CONTACT info!

The Iron County Commission will be conducting a public hearing on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 6 p.m. at the Iron County Court House. The meeting will be held in the court room. The purpose of this meeting is to inform the citizens of Iron County on the progress of restoring Crane Lake. The citizens of Iron County need to know what is going to happen with Crane Lake and they deserve an answer from the US Forest Service and the elected officials that represent Iron County. In a Commission regular meeting last Thursday, Scaggs said he has received only a couple of replies.
“Congressman Jason Smith’s Chief of Staff will be attending,” Scaggs said. “I got a call from Rebecca Ewing (a District Ranger with the US Forest Service) indicating that her new boss will be there. Those are the only responses we have received.”
