I’m excited to be attending my first white water clinic in April, but want to make sure I’m prepared in my canoe. What do I need to wear with my 3mm farmer john wetsuit to stay warm in the water? Also, do I need a NSR storm cap or storm hood under my helmet?
I normally wear merino wool long johns under my farmer john wetsuit. I take a week of vacation and paddle the Ozark rivers every March. However, I’ve never been submerged in the Jacks Fork/Norfork/Little Piney/etc. I will get soaked on the St Francis, so I need your advice.

I’m saying this with the it all depends on the person and weather portion in the backdrop.  Hell it’s Missouri and April, it might be 80 degrees or it might be 30.  The last few years it’s been in the 40’s however, and in my opinion if you swim then your not going to be warm in a wetsuit.  No matter what else you wear with it.  Will it be tolerable, depends on the person.  Drysuit would be my recommendation if you can purcase or borrow one.
