This past Sunday the SLU Kayaking Club E-Board made it out to the Saint Francis River. It was a lot of fun with a whole lot of learning. We have been practicing in the campus pool since October, so it was great to paddle on the river. Down below is the linked video documenting our trip.
The water was 38 degrees. That provided a good amount of motivation to stay upright in our boats. Scott and Dave did a great job helping us out with everything from rescuing us to teaching us how to cross an eddy line, they also provided u with kayaks and gear for the trip. Without them, this trip wouldn’t be possible. It is crazy to think that the MWC is a month and a half away from now. Our goal is to compete in it, but we will assess our skills and ability closer to the date to determine if it would be wise and safe to compete.
We paddled the upper section. The water was low, but it was a good level for the first time out to the river. We plan on making our way back to the river again in the coming weeks. See you all at the pool slalom!
