I have been going to Rockford beach lately with the Big River between 5-8 feet.  There are a couple lines on the far side river right, along the bluffs.  The left one is easy to line up and runs out through a long wave train.  The right line takes you closer to the bluffs and is really violent and exciting. There is a couple fun eddies to try and catch where the bluff pockets in under overhanging rock.  At 7 and 8 feet I don’t believe there is any concern with rocks or rebar as I have run all of the wave train upside down, but I would like to get a better look at the far right line at lower levels to see if there is anything to worry about.  The Eddie service at these levels is also very strong so easy to get transported right up to the beginning of the wavetrain.  I didn’t see to much in the way of keeper hydraulics to worry about as the dam is mostly rip rap rock that has gotten spread out over time.
