Missouri Whitewater Association General Meeting
1/9/2024 7pm-8:15pm (24 attendees)

Race Director: Mike Leininger: Upcoming race meeting on 1/19/2024
-The schedule for the races has been set.
-Looking at revising the way age groups are organized in order to avoid 1 or 2 people in an age group. Suggestion to add a mega/super masters age group for people in upper ages like, 80???
-Working with Nat Eades (T-shirt design winner) on the final T-shirt design.
-Currently searching for a band and caterer for Friday night race gathering.
-The lodge has been chosen for the race banquet (Note: Matt Ellis to get David K. a check to reserve the lodge)
-Volunteer coordinators: Chris Tice & Deana McKelvie are working to revise the criteria for volunteers to get a free T-shirt. Reaching out to local schools for students looking for volunteer hours. Need to add Friday downriver race volunteers to database/spreadsheet.
-Everything is currently on track to have a successful 2024 MWA Race.

Clinic Director: Jo Newbold:
-Jojo will be reaching out to possible instructors for the clinic & that will determine how many students can be enrolled.
-Registration is tentatively set for Feb. 1st open. Things to keep in mind are creating a way to get payment from students taken off waitlist, set a cancellation cutoff date/policy.
-Re-structure the kids session giving the Options of 1 day or 2 days. Discussed various scenarios & will be solidified in the coming weeks.
-Currently TRR will have 2 scholarships available for the clinic. Board will let Jojo & Sally know if additional scholarships will be added.
-Everything is on track for the 2024 Clinic to be a success.

Training Director: Sally Haywood:
Please spread the word about the upcoming classes: ACA, pool classes, clinic. Find detailed info on MWA website (calendar or training events).

-ACA Adaptive paddling workshop is coming up on 2/2/2024. They’re looking for 5 volunteers with physical disabilities who will be at the class Sunday 2/4/24, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm to let the students make paddlesport adaptations for them.
-TRR open pool sessions @ Pallottine Renewal Center, Wednesday nights from Jan. 10th thru March 27th. Everyone is welcome! See MWA website for details.

New Boats: 5 Pyranha Machnos have been purchased, outfitted & are ready for Mehlville pool classes/clinic. They should be getting to the pool soon. Note that these boats are the property of the MWA and are only to be used at the Mehlville pool classes or the MWA clinic.

-Pool slalom is at Mehlville on 2/11/2024

$18,184.06 total in Paypal & bank account.
-The MWA will no longer be sending paper checks through the mail. This will avoid spreading MWA’s account info to prevent fraud.
-50/50 river level contest is still going on. It’s up to $22.00

Membership: Willow Ellis:
-Reminder to update your membership for 2024. 2023 membership has expired.

I tried to renew my membership and it wouldn’t let me. I did the three-year thing last time so maybe that has something to with it. Please advise. Thanks.
