Intro to Whitewater Kayak classes, Roll Class, and Open Pool Practice will resume this Fall at Mehlville High School. Signup @ Mehlville School District Community Enrichment should be available by July 16th. Details below.
<h2>Introduction to Whitewater</h2>
This is the perfect way to get started in whitewater kayaking. You will begin building fundamental skills indoors, in a warm pool. Skills include strokes, edging, and the roll, plus blending strokes for river maneuvers. Discussion will cover safety, gear, river running, and more.

When: Six weeks, Wednesday evenings 7:00 to 9:00, 9/5 to 10/10

Where: Mehlville High School pool

Cost: $90; plus an additional $25 for equipment rental (boat, skirt, paddle) if needed.

Minimum Age: 15
<h2>Learning to Roll</h2>
Focused on rolling a whitewater kayak, this class is for you whether you are hoping to nail your first roll or wanting to practice and refine your roll to make it bomb-proof on the river. You will receive pool-side instruction and then work one-on-one with instructors in the pool, progressively learning and strengthening component parts of the roll until you have put it all together. Each student will receive two fifteen-minute roll session per class, leaving time for paddling around and getting to know the other students. (Sponsored by the Missouri Whitewater Association.)

When: Four weeks, Wednesday evenings 7:00 to 9:00, 10/17 to 11/17

Where: Mehlville High School pool

Cost: $40; equipment available (boat, skirt, paddle) if needed.

<h2>Open Pool Practice</h2>
<span style=”font-family: Calibri;”><span style=”color: #000000;”>Bring your whitewater kayak and practice strokes, rolling, play moves, etc. in the warm pool to get the rust out in time for Spring paddling. </span>This does not include formal instruction, but Missouri Whitewater Association instructors will be on hand to coach.</span>
