That’s Ray McLain (R.I.P.) of Wisconsin in the stern. It appears he and his partner are 50-ing the gate, and I’m pretty sure Ray would like this picture to be gone. Ray was a good guy, very competitive, and a mentor to me and a lot of other folks. I paddled with him in the 80’s and the only time I ever saw him swim was with me in a C-2. It’s one of my proudest paddling moments! Thanks for posting this.
Pete Shaw suggested that the bow paddler might be Ray’s OC-2Mixed partner, who was Barb Oakley in 1986 (when the slide was dated). The 1986 results showed they finished first in OC-2Mixed.
Greg Brown thought the paddler in the yellow Dancer might be Dave Buhs. We think Stan Stoy is in the background by the dam, in the gold helmet.
