TRR Southern Illinois (SO IL) “Galentine” 2027
Fri-Sun, Feb 12-14, 2027 “Gal-entine” Women’s event led by TRR Southern Illinois (SO IL) Chapter, at Touch of Nature Outdoor Education Center (TON), for TRR’s Central Region.
Fri. 3:00 pm check-in; end Sunday 11:30 am.
Registration will open by 1/1/27. Free for women veterans and service members, made possible through generous fundraising by the Illinois Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Women’s Committee (please become a member!). Registration deadline is 2/1/27 (firm, so we can order food).
- Each veteran may bring a +1 civilian woman guest (eg sister, daughter, friend, etc; youth 16 and older). We may have a $95 charge per +1 guest (to be determined, based on fundraising). +1 guests must individually register.
We will sleep in a heated lodge, have cafeteria meals and play outside, with an inside option each time block! All activities are challenge-by-choice and will likely include:
- Paddling the beautiful Cache River wetlands
- Individual High Challenges {in a harness} = Pamper Pole (Leap of Faith) & High Swing
- Yoga / stretching
- “Camping with Confidence” workshop, eg How to pitch a tent; cooking over a backpack stove
- Archery & atlatl
- Hiking
- Knot tying
- Art with nature
- What else? This is a great (safe) space to practice leading something you want to share with others.
More details forthcoming. Point of Contact (POC) = Rockette Jaros (618.453.3954) <[email protected]>, TRR SO IL chapter coordinator.
In 2/2026, we had 30 women participate! It was amazing.
Team River Runner Mission: To provide all veterans and their families an opportunity to find health, healing, community purpose, and new challenges through adventure and adaptive paddle sports!
This was the flier from 2026!
