ACA L4 Swiftwater Rescue Skills Course

March 13 - March 15

The Swiftwater Rescue workshop teaches participants to recognize and avoid common river hazards, execute self-rescue techniques, and perform rescue techniques for paddlers in distress. Emphasis is placed both on personal safety and on simple, commonly used skills. Fundamental and more advanced techniques for dealing with hazards that carry greater risks for both victim and rescuer, such as strainers, rescue vest applications, entrapments, and pins, are practiced. Scenarios will provide participants with an opportunity to practice their skills both individually and within a team/group context.

Cost: $250 per participant.
Members of the Missouri Whitewater Association are eligible for reimbursement after required volunteer activity.
Taught by Bill Miles from Earth’s Classroom.
