      At our next meeting, I would like to have some of our by-laws updated to reflect some changes in our world today, mostly centering around electronic communications and our website.  I am posting them now so that you can think about these changes, discuss the wording of the changes, and possibly be ready to vote for or against those changes.

      Changes are as follows:

      ARTICLE III – MEMBERSHIP

      Section 1. MEMBERSHIP CLASSIFICATION

      1. HONORARY (LIFETIME) MEMBERSHIP

      (5) The honorary member shall be required to pay no membership dues during his lifetime.

      Change to

      (5) The honorary member shall not be required to pay membership dues during the rest of the member’s life.

       

      ARTICLE IV – MEETINGS

       

      Section 1. ANNUAL MEETING: The annual meeting of the members for the transaction of business as may come before the meeting shall be held at 10:00 a.m. on the first Sunday following Labor Day of each calendar year.

      Change to

      Section 1. ANNUAL MEETING: The annual meeting of the members for the transaction of business as may come before the meeting shall be on the first weekend following Labor Day of each calendar year.

       

      Section 4. NOTICE: Written or printed notice of each meeting of the members stating the place, day, and hour of the meeting, shall be delivered or given not less than ten (10) days before the date of the meeting, either personally, by mail, or by publication in the Association’s newsletter, by or at the direction of the President or the Secretary or the Officer or persons calling the meeting, to each member of record entitled to vote at such meeting.

      1. NOTICE BY MAIL – If such notice shall be given by mail or by newsletter, it shall be deposited thereof in the United States Mail addressed to the member at his/her address as it appears on the records of the Association, with first-class postage properly attached thereto, and said notices hall be deemed given as of the date it is so deposited in the United States Mail.

      Change to

      ARTICLE VI – OFFICERS

      Section 2. ELECTION OF OFFICERS:

      1. CAMPAIGNING – All candidates for office shall be afforded the opportunity to use the Association’s newsletter for the campaign information prior to election.

      Change to

      1. CAMPAIGNING – All candidates for office shall be afforded the opportunity to use the Association’s newsletter, website, or other methods of communication for the campaign information prior to election.
      2. VOTING

      (2) BALLOT PROCEDURES

      (b) The election committee shall mail ballots to all registered members at least fifty, (50) days prior to the second annual meeting of each term of office.

      Change to

      (b) The election committee shall mail ballots to all registered members at least fifty (50) days prior to the second annual meeting of each term of office, or electronically send ballots electronically to all registered members at least twenty (20) days prior to the second annual meeting of each term of office.
