The Mississippi Water Trail Association & the Corps of Engineers are hosting their annual 10 mile flatwater race (4 miles for SUPs) on 22 July, at Riverlands near Alton. Many of our whitewater friends are competing, and you can too! http://firecrackerrace.org
The race will occur on the Mississippi River Alton Pool formed by the Mel Price Lock and Dam, located upriver from the city of Saint Louis at Riverlands. This section of the Mississippi River is very much like a large lake and the race is held in Ellis Bay, an off-channel portion of the river. Racers will navigate a 2 mile loop. The race is very spectator friendly with the racers in view the entire time. Bring your family and enjoy Riverlands. This is the same location as last year, near the Audubon Center at the pavilion.
Check in at 8 am, mandatory safety meeting at 8:30, and race starts at 9:30 am.
