The river was 3″ at D this evening. We got another little “hit” of rain. I plan to go tomorrow, on “slacker Monday”! I should be there about 10:30 to 11:00am.

Hi this is Di, using Chuck’s sign on!! So we are meeting at the take-out for the Hiawasee on Friday at 10:00am. We can do shuttle to the top and there will be vehicles at the bottom. Then on to Nantahala Friday evening. Sarah will have bunk assignments by the end of the week and hopefully all who needed a bunk got their reservations in (it is over)!!! I see that several folks are coming and have other accommodations. If folks want to boat together on the Nanty then meet up for shuttle by the cabins on top by 09:30am on Saturday. We can make a plan for Sunday when we see how folks skills are, maybe the Pigeon will be possible, or we can just stay at Nantahala. Monday is the Ocoee and homeward bound. If you need directions to the Hiawasse take-out, I will be posting those as the trip gets near (about a week before). We will have fun!! Di McHenry

It was 29″ when we left at 5 pm Thursday. It is going to be a great weekend I think.

Thanks to Chris and Levi for the shuttle, who’ve been on the river multiple times.

Di and Levi are going today.

That’s a good question! I wish I could get out and see. The river pools were frozen solid. One- they can break up as the river rises and go on downstream (be on the alert) but two-  I have also seen them stay put and the water go over them- which is weird as all get out to boat in.

I think with warming trend Sat. or Su. will be okay.

There is a lot of water on the ground, and it is now snowing heavily.

Yeah, that’s the ticket……we’ll have a little, er uh, I mean big, er uh I mean huge runoff today and tonight when the temp reaches 18 degrees. Yeah….and all that ice is going to just slowly,,er I mean…quickly melt overnight and conditions will be poor, er uh, I mean GREAT.

My wife, Morgan Fairchild (whom I’ve made love to) is coming with me. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

We’ll be there tomorrow at HOD- no….. I mean 6am.  To be FIRST on the river.

Or my name isn’t Tommy Flanni…er, uh Flanaygan.

Don’t. It is 90% frozen over. MS is graded only to the first turn off.

4 wheel drive= two wheel drive on ice.

Just got back from GC and slot canyoneering in the Escalante, and the rivers were way low. They also didn’t get much snow so may be a short season.
Di and I have discussed doing “the circuit” which is a week-10 day long circle from the poudre to progressively harder rivers. Maybe TJ can chime in on this- but I’m thinking late June? We end up at Roaring Fork and Royal Gorge.
