Emphasis is placed both on personal safety and on simple\, commonly used skills. Fundamental and more advanced techniques for dealing with hazards that carry greater risks for both victim and rescuer\, such as strainers\, rescue vest applications\, entrapments\, and pins\, are practiced. Saturday morning March 21\, please check in (sign a 2026 waiver) at 10:00 at the Millstream Gardens pavilion to string up the slalom gate wires and/or do the slalom practice.  No prior experience necessary with wires nor boating.\n\nBring wire cutters\, pliers\, a pocket knife\, safety glasses\, and leather gloves. If you have a pruner handy\, please bring that as well. Wear sturdy shoes for being on the rocks. Plan to wear bright clothes so you are easily seen across the river.\n\nIf you are helping for the first time\, we will coach you.
