Bob, the only way to reserve rooms or group dinner at the discount price is to buy them through the MWA store.

Thanks,
Jonathan

Ocoee Rafting?
Amanda (Fouts-Miller) and I are planning on doing an Ocoee run on a raft (with a guide) on Monday while our husbands paddle in kayaks! If anyone else is interested in joining us maybe we can get a group together. We would have to be at the Ocoee NOC center by 10:30 am and we'd be off the river by 2pm, the cost is $47/person and you have to be 12 or older.
My email:

Thanks,

Kassie

Ride or Rider
I am trying to work out going. Anyone still looking for a rider or a ride? If looking for a ride, I can take two people, boats and gear.
Prefer to leave Thursday and not arrive too late to wherever the first destination will be. And finish Monday afternoon on the Ocoee then back to STL.

Wartburg Meeting Time?
Is there an established meeting time at Hardees in Wartburg? I'm not sure what time Jon and I will leave Thursday so we'll just plan to meet the group Friday morning.
My cell number is (314) Three 98-82O8 if there is a change in the itinerary.

Jonathon,
I've found that when posting times to meet, across time zones, it is beneficial to stipulate Central time or Eastern time, as somebody will inevitably make the wrong interpretation of the actual meet time. Just a thought. Looks like ya'll have a BIG old honkin group, in the MWA Tradition ! Have fun, and enjoy beautiful Section III of the Chatooga. The aromas from the laurels and Pine Trees found in there, are unforgettable. May see some of you at the Ocoee on monday. Freddie

Clear Creek Too Low
Jonathon,

I know your schedule is set in stone, but at this point clear creek is definitely too low. It's supposed to rain tomorrow so it might come in, but I would give it low odds.

The only thing running in that neck of the woods is the BSF and its main trib the New. BSF is great even at the low level and the canyon run (pine creek confluence to O&W) is on par with the saint at these lower levels. The rapids between the clear fork/new confluence and pine creek definitely have teeth at low water (hard class III), but are all easy to portage/sneak. I don't know much about the New other than it doesn't get great reviews and is easier than the BSF.

Hope this helps,

Jim

Fri
Jonathan - Likely I will not make camping Thurs night so I too am planning to meet you at the Wartburg Hardees. My cell is 618 541 8two65 if plans change. If I am not there when you are ready to go do NOT wait for me. If I miss you I will see you at NOC. My schedule may cause me to miss Fri paddling but this is not my intent tonight. NOC is for sure.

Thank you for an awesome SE trip!
I would like to everyone for making the Southeast trip a blast for all of us new boaters! I know it's not easy for the really good boaters to come out and help us newbies, so you deserve some massive credit for being so patient and kind to us! I had so much fun with the new boaters, as well. It is such a great bonding experience to go down the Falls for the first time with another new boater. I will never forget the days I spent with you all!
In particular, I would like to thank Jonathan and Maro for trip planning (and Maro for teaching me how to surf for the first time!), Chris Kelly for leading the Clear Creek trip, Will (good call on the French Broad for Sunday), Mike Mandl and Bob Henderson for getting me through the Nanty and French Broad!, and Garrett B. for saving my life on the Nanty I am sure I forgot some people, but you all made the trip a great success!
I can't even put into words how much fun I had and I how I can't wait for GAF!

Awesome weekend!
What a great weekend of boating in the Southeast!

We had enough rain on Thursday to run Clear Creek on Friday...what a gem...a beautiful river! We had fantastic weather all weekend and a great group of paddlers! It was fun to boat with everyone & check out 3 new rivers (for me) in 4 days.

We had a great group of newbies that did an amazing job!! I am looking forward to seeing them on future trips and out on the Saint!

Thanks to Jonathan for leading the trip & guiding me down my first run on the Ocoee, Chris for leading us down Clear Creek, Will for leading us down the French Broad & all of the help from the advanced boaters with helping the newer boaters.

Pictures will be posted soon.

SYOTR!
Maro
