Ocoee weekend June 12th-13th

The Ocoee was so much fun with the pumped up flow on Memorial Day that I want to go back. Planning on being there June 12th and 13th, probably run the upper and lower Sat, and just the lower or P&P Sunday. Leave Friday afternoon, camp at RiverRats, leave Sunday afternoon to try and get back in STL before 10pm. Mike Mandl had so much fun that he seems to want to go again already, one or two more would be good for a car pool - spending too much on gas this month, lol! - or hell, 5 or 6 more for two cars. Whooo's game??

Impressed the heck out of myself with some good combat rolls (between a few swims I must add). No swims next time!

Steve, we'd love to have you along, you did great on the lower Ocoee, was that your first run?

Well...
Let's just say yes it was, but my official first run was four years ago and it was not a good day. As much as people tried to tell me at the time I really did not know what I was in for. I started very tired already, missed the ferry above grumpys, flipped and rolled many times and swam many times and basically got my butt kicked. After my last really long swim I walked off the river at table saw. For whatever reasons I never got back there until last weekend. Interesting that Bling and Viggers were there both times. Hopefully they got to enjoy the river more this time because the first time they spent chasing me and my boat all day.
I was better prepared this time and am looking forward to the next. Maybe next week.

Steve, we will do the Upper Section on Sat which has some slightly more technical sections that the lower, but the race-course you can sneak in it's entirety, I did, in fact I would say I've never run the race course, always sneaked. That need fixin'! At Mikey's (potential Class IV although really not difficult) you'd probably just want to do Alien which is very forgiving, esp in a Burn. Blue hole sucks but I think I know the line around it and Roach Motel, well, just learn to deal with holes

This last weekend was my first time doing the ocoee as well and was lucky enough to run it 2 days. I really fell in love with it and would like to make it back out.

I am planning on going down to the Ocoee next weekend too.

I might be interested. I passed on my opportunity last weekend. I definitely want try the Ocoee in the Remix.

Hey everyone, this is Kevin Doak, Garrett's son. I am in for this weekend on the ocoee and was wondering if anyone had a spot available to ride down with them. Also, having never stayed down there, I was wondering what most people do for camping/lodging. Thanks alot for the help and I can't wait to go back!!!

Y'all missed an epic weekend. Ocoee is so much fun, 4 virgin runs of the complete upper, no swims, and only a couple of combat rolls. A great, great time, great peeps and awesome whitewater. Oh, and the best news of all, Grumpy's is reopening!! Friendly new owners, expect to see the MWA and TDC folks all there paaartaying this summer!
