Welcome to the Missouri Whitewater Association!

The Missouri Whitewater Association is a public organization which exists to encourage the growth of paddling as a beneficial recreational sport and a recognized competitive sport, to teach paddling skills, river safety techniques, first aid, and outfitting, to sponsor river trips and other outdoor activities, and to educate club members and the general public about the sport and about river conservation.

The MWA promotes the conservation and preservation of all kinds of free flowing rivers and wilderness areas, including the local Preserve the St. Francis River activity focused on our local whitewater gem. It works with other organizations that share similar interests, to support environmental issues that protect our natural resources and it promotes paddling interests through cooperation with governmental departments, bureaus, and agencies, and private and public organizations that share similar interests.

The Missouri Whitewater Association operates as a General Not for Profit Corporation, registered in the State of Missouri, for educational and recreational purposes, and is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. MWA is classified as a public charity under section 509(a)(2) of the Internal Revenue Code, and contributions to MWA are tax deductible under section 170 of the Code.

The next general meeting for the MWA is the second Tuesday of January (the 8th) 7pm. It is open to the public and prospective members.

The meeting will be held at the Tap Room in the Eliot Room.

Topics discussed will be the Pool Slalom, the Races, the next Clinic, and other items. There MIGHT (I'm still working on it) be a slide show of the recent winter Grand Canyon trip by Aine, Sally H., Mike Hickey, and Doug Grosjean.

Canoe for Clean Water

On Saturday, October 20th, 2012 Missouri River Communities Network will be hosting the second Canoe for Clean Water Race, Float and Festival. The event will consist of a 46.5 mile canoe/kayak race, the Clean Water 50, starting at Stump Island (Glasgow, MO; mile marker 226.5) at 8:00am and a 15 mile canoe/kayak float, the Clean Water 15, starting at Franklin Island (Boonville, MO; mile marker 195) at 10:00am. All racers will take out at Katfish Katy's (Huntsdale, MO; mile marker 180). We expect all boaters to be out of the water by 5:00pm.
